Webinar – Advancing Employment and Clinical Cultural Competency for Transgender and Gender Nonconforming People

January 24, 2019
10:00am - 11:00am Pacific Time
All hospital personnel, people who provide direct patient care, Human Resources department and all managers and supervisors will find this information especially relevant.

Increasing attention is now given to transgender and gender nonconforming people in the public eye, yet many health care systems are not equipped with the skills and resources needed to create an inclusive, affirming environment for patients and employees across a broad spectrum of gender identity and expression. Because even clinicians who are familiar with gay, lesbian, and bisexual clients often do not have accurate information about transgender clients, greater education and clinical training are necessary in order to provide ethical, affirming care.

This is a 1-hour introductory webinar course for hospital and long term care organization employees may learn how to best respond to the needs of transgender and gender nonconforming people. Topics will include: the broad spectrum of gender identity and expression in transgender and gender nonconforming communities, increasing culturally responsive care, inclusive work environments, respectful communication and interaction, and factors to consider when developing inclusive policies for transgender, gender nonconforming, and transitioning employees and patients.
